Statistician, Network Meta-Analysis

Description

DRG is searching for a Statistician who is an expert within the field of network meta-analysis, to be based in one of our offices in Bicester, London or Manchester, some flexibility of home working can be considered. As a Statistician within network meta-analysis, you will be a part of the systematic literature and network-meta analysis centre of excellence. You will be responsible for addressing the pharmaceutical industry demand for high quality evidence in healthcare evaluation, whilst ensuring that DRG Abacus is in a strong and strategic position in conducting next generation healthcare evaluations. You will be required to undertake, supervise and deliver multiple high-quality evidence synthesis projects, in particular, network meta-analysis, on time and on budget.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide statistical input into the generation of healthcare evidence by incorporating state-of-the-art statistical methodologies into resolution of client problems, in line with health technology assessment agency technical specifications
  • Contribute to the statistical planning and design of systematic review data collection by liaison with the systematic review team leaders/project managers
  • Contribute to/advise on feasibility assessments of meta-analysis
  • Statistical project management and delivery
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training to specialist teams to promote understanding and interpretation of network meta-analysis results and to expand the statistical skill base across DRG Abacus
  • Monitor changes in NMA/statistical methods (and HTA agency requirements) and disseminate learning within company and contribute to integrating new methods to processes, so DRG is at the forefront in synthesis methods
  • Evaluate synergies between meta-analytical techniques and health economic evaluation modelling to improve process efficiency
  • Contribute to raising the profile of DRG regarding evidence synthesis capability, including by liaising with medical writers/others to produce manuscripts of meta-analyses
  • Provide general advice on appropriate methodology to different areas of the business (e.g. modellers and HTA group)
  • Advise on the robustness of NMA models to guide model selection for health economic evaluation by HE modellers

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Masters in medical statistics (or equivalent) with demonstrable experience

Experience:

  • Knowledge and expertise in statistics, in particular applied Bayesian statistics in decision making
  • Excellent knowledge of WinBUGS
  • Network meta-analysis methods in WinBUGS

Skills:

  • Conduct of NMAs in WinBUGS and of direct comparisons and indirect comparisons
  • Analyse and interpret results and communicate them internally and externally
  • Teaching skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Microsoft word and proficient microsoft excel
  • Comprehensive knowledge of endnote, refMan
