Senior Health Economist

DRG is looking to appoint a highly talented Senior Health Economist to be based from one of three UK offices, Manchester, London or Bicester and an element of home working can be considered.
The role of Senior Health Economist is a key role, working as part of a dynamic team, working towards our emerging five-year strategy for the health economics and real world evidence centre of excellence. Working within the consultancy industry means no two days are the same, working for a truly global company you will work on a diverse workload, working on variable projects with colleagues around the globe.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in producing, developing and delivering a range of economic models which communicates the costs and benefits of healthcare interventions in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical device areas.

As a Senior Health Economist you will manage the delivery of health economics modelling projects and undertake business development and client relationship activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To research, scope and develop a range of technical economic models, predominantly in Excel, including cost utility, cost benefit, cost outcome and budget impact models
  • To provide written methods and results of models developed in reports, health technology and assessment (HTA) dossiers, abstracts, posters and publications as required
  • To devise and develop high level cost-effectiveness and budget impact models in Excel
  • Contribute to the development of client ready proposals for HE and modelling projects
  • To devise and develop payer value communication tools and their supporting documentation
  • To provide strategic Health Economics input into projects
  • Provide QC support to the team
  • To develop and present slides of methods and results internally and to clients
  • To provide data analysis as required
  • To support thought leadership initiatives within the Health Economics space
  • To take an active interest in continuing professional development and contribute as part of the HE & RWE centre of excellence in ensuring best practice methodologies and techniques are applied and approaches are updated according to industry guidelines
  • Mentor, develop & coach less senior members of staff within our Health Economics department
  • Provide internal and external training in HE-related topics
  • Potential for line management responsibilities if desired
  • Potential for involvement in HE-related RWE data analysis and projects

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (or related) discipline
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification e.g. MSc / PhD Health Economics could be replaced by significant level of consultancy

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in a modelling role within a consulting agency or academic institution
  • Knowledge and practical application of all relevant methods of economic evaluation
  • Experience of developing models to support economic strategies

Skills:

  • High level of competency in Excel and modelling skills are essential
  • First class communication skills with the ability to engage with clients in issues relating to projects in area of responsibility
  • Time management skills, including the ability to manage own time to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, and flexible with an ability to cope under pressure / with competing demands
  • A good understanding of the pharmaceutical industry would be an advantage
  • Experience of working with patient level data is desirable
