Outside of changes related to healthcare reform, most insurers avoided major changes to benefit design for 2011. UnitedHealth Group launched a pilot in Phoenix and other markets which reimburses the YMCA and Walgreens pharmacists for improved outcomes of members with metabolic syndrome, diabetes and prediabetes, as well as those who meet a certain number of risk factors for diabetes. Colorado Medicaid's preferred drug list saved $7 million in the past fiscal year after it included more classes, while Medicare Advantage plans in Arizona and Nevada instituted changes to drug benefits and preventive care, likely drawing new members in diminished Medicare Advantage markets.
