Xanthine oxidase inhibitors (XOIs) are the mainstay of chronic gout treatment, with generic allopurinol prescribed much more extensively than brands Uloric and Zurampic. This report presents urate-lowering therapy prescribing patterns and provides insights into the uptake of novel branded agents against the background of generic allopurinol dominance.
