Biosimilars – Emerging Biosimilars – Special Topics: Oncology Biosimilars in the United States – Wave 2
Biosimilars referencing Roche/Genentech’s portfolio of blockbuster oncology monoclonal antibodies—Avastin, Herceptin, and Rituxan—launched in the United States throughout the second half of 2019. As more biosimilars referencing these brands become available in the United States in 2020, this year will be pivotal for stakeholders active in the U.S. oncology space to understand the dynamics of how these newly launched biosimilars will affect the coverage and uptake of their reference brands, other originator biologics, and other biosimilars. This report series will track biosimilar and brand use in the United States through real-world data and formulary analysis, with insights from prescribers and payers.
Marta Delgado, Ph.D., is an analyst on the Biosimilars team at DRG, part of Clarivate. She is responsible for the global analysis of the biosimilars market in four therapeutic areas: oncology, endocrinology, immunology, and nephrology. She has authored several biosimilar-related reports on current and emerging therapies, market access and reimbursement, and corporate strategies. Using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, Dr. Delgado also delivers analysis, insight, and recommendations on forecast assumptions within the biosimilars space that influence companies’ business decisions and strategies. Prior to joining DRG, she worked as a healthcare research analyst at the market research company SKIM and as a neuroscientist at the London Institute of Neurology. She received her Ph.D. from University College London.
