TORONTO, Feb. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Decision Resources Group finds that the market for body contouring devices in the United States will see strong growth through 2022 in the wake of high patient demand and a cultural emphasis on achieving an "ideal body."

The emergence of noninvasive treatment options in the fat reduction market will cater to the high patient demand for aesthetic procedures. These technologies entail less recovery time and do not require incisions or anesthesia, making them attractive to patients who may have had concerns regarding the invasiveness of traditional fat reduction procedures. As a result, this market segment will see rapid growth at an annual growth rate of almost 24 percent, representing the largest portion of revenues in the fat reduction device market through 2022.

"Because of the growing interest in the noninvasive fat reduction market, a number of companies are running trials in order to enter this lucrative space," said Decision Resources Group Manager April Lee. "As of 2013, ZELTIQ, Cynosure and Solta Medical were the only competitors in this market, leaving significant opportunities for new competitors. However, all three companies have innovative products, established reputations and extensive sales networks. New entrants will therefore struggle to compete against these players unless they can offer devices that are more efficacious or lower priced than current product offerings."

Noninvasive fat reduction procedures will be the primary driver of growth in the U.S. body contouring market, but they will have a negative impact on traditional liposuction procedure volumes. The markets for traditional liposuction devices will, however, continue to expand because these procedures are well established and demand for fat reduction procedures in general is so high.
