InterStudy Publications, a division of Decision Resources, announces the release of The InterStudy HMO MSA Profiler 12.2. The MSA Profiler database allows users to determine the dominant HMO through market share in a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) throughout the nation.

The MSA Profiler characterizes a metropolitan market's overall managed care statistics by HMO commercial, both HMO and non-HMO Medicare and Medicaid, and the uninsured population. The MSA Profiler contains data on 326 MSAs with HMO enrollment as of January 1, 2002. For each MSA, the database provides detailed information on HMO enrollment, market penetration, revenue, and expenses. The 12.2 Profiler is equipped with a new feature called the MSA Profile Viewer. This HTML-based map provides formatted MSA profiles which display the HMOs present in each metropolitan area along with market share and demographic information. Most of the data in the MSA Profiler database is based on The National HMO Census collected by InterStudy.

"The MSA Profiler database compiles multiple tables to develop an overall report for a selected MSA," said Lance Wolkenbrod, data specialist at InterStudy Publications. "This new functionality equips users with a macro understanding of Metropolitan Areas, and can be used to compliment reports and or presentations based on the data."
