According to the recently published Competitive Edge Managed Care Industry Report from InterStudy Publications, eighty-nine Managed Care Organizations across the country now own both HMOs and PPOs and operate them as complementary lines of business. Overall, HMOs have continued their slow decline in enrollment, while PPOs increased their number of covered lives, buoyed by strong growth within National Managed Care Firms.
