InterStudy Publications, a division of Decision Resources, Inc., announces the release of The Regional Market Analysis 13.2, which finds that large metropolitan markets (i.e., those with one million or more inhabitants) continued to have higher HMO penetration rates and more competition compared with medium and small markets between January 1, 2002 and January 1, 2003.
"Penetration rates across markets ranged from an average of 32% in large markets, to 23% in medium markets, and down to 15% in small markets," said Nicole Garberg, HMO project manager for InterStudy Publications. "Large markets were also the most competitive."
The Regional Market Analysis database provides HMO data at a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) level, featuring information on market structure and competition. The database is used to help chart market evolution showing growth, market exits, and the impact of mergers on market structure. It includes an easy-to-use interface with data available in Excel or Access formats.
