InterStudy Publications, a division of Decision Resources, announces the release of The InterStudy HMO County Surveyor Database, a source of standardized demographic and HMO industry information at the county level that provides access to HMO market shares and penetration rates for commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid enrollment. The database allows HMO strategic planners to explore business opportunities and competition across metro areas and beyond.

InterStudy's HMO County Surveyor Database gives users the ability to compare HMO county statistics to national or state averages and analyze plan product mixes to make it possible for a plan to focus expansion efforts in counties with the greatest potential and possibly lower levels of competition. The HMO County Surveyor breaks out 489 HMOs over 2700 counties, and lists managed care statistics for 3141 of the national counties.

"The County Surveyor 5.0 allows data users to compare HMOs within a county by a variety of managed care variables," said Lance Wolkenbrod, data specialist at InterStudy. "The data can help users decide to market towards heavier penetrated counties or for managed care providers to serve markets where there tends to be less competition."

County-level HMO data is available in multiple formats. Organizations can order single page County Profiles, County Surveyor State Reports featuring PDF profiles and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, or the national County Surveyor Database. The County Surveyor Database includes an easy-to-use Microsoft Access interface; this allows users to print individual county profiles and view the data quickly.
