InterStudy Publications, a division of Decision Resources, announced today the release of The Interstudy County Surveyor Database, a source of standardized demographic and HMO industry information at the county level that provides access to HMO market shares and penetration rates for commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid enrollment. The database allows HMO strategic planners to explore business opportunities and competition across metro areas and beyond.
InterStudy's County Surveyor Database gives HMOs the ability to compare county statistics to national or state averages and analyze plan product mixes to make it possible for a plan to focus expansion efforts in counties with the greatest potential and possibly lower levels of competition.
"The database maps industry concentration," said Lance Wolkenbrod, data specialist at InterStudy, a division of Decision Resources. "It shows that the National Managed Care Firms (NMCFs) control the largest county market shares in the country. It also illustrates the counties that are not controlled by NMCFs."
County-level HMO data is available in multiple formats. You can order single page County Profiles, County Surveyor State Reports featuring PDF profiles and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, or the national County Surveyor Database. The County Surveyor Database includes an easy-to-use Microsoft Access interface; this allows you to print individual county profiles or view the different data quickly. Individual County Profiles are available for $215 each. The national County Surveyor Database costs $14,500. County Surveyor State Reports range from $1,300 to $3,500.
