Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a viral infection of the liver and a major risk factor for cirrhosis and liver cancer. To inform patient-centered measurement strategy, it is first important to gain a comprehensive understanding of patient experience including disease associated symptoms, treatment experience, and associated impact of living with CHB on patients’ functioning and wellbeing. Therefore, the primary objective of this study was to understand patients’ experiences of CHB from prediagnosis through to treatment and living with a chronic condition. A secondary objective was to explore similarities and differences in experience according to country or coinfection status.
