2015 Predictions

To say that the business of rural healthcare has faced challenges in the new paradigm of healthcare reform is an understatement and the risk will continue to climb in 2015. According to the National Rural Health Association, 35 percent of rural hospitals operate at a loss and as many as 283 are at risk of closure. Those closures could have a significant ripple effect on the healthcare industry, resulting in a loss of 700,000 patient encounters and 36,000 healthcare jobs.
