Resource Manager

Description

We are looking for an experienced Resource Manager to fulfill a new role based from one of the UK offices in Bicester, Manchester or London. The Resource Manager is responsible for managing the assignments of ~70 staff across multiple locations in a dynamic, fast-paced Health Economic and Outcomes Research (HEOR) consulting business.

Responsibilites:

  • Assign staff to projects, balancing the needs of the project with the skills, availability and development needs of staff members
  • Help to drive the utilization of the team by developing creative solutions to staff projects when resource availability is constrained
  • Work with team leads to maintain a repository of skills of each staff member, as well as their desired project-based development objectives (e.g., wants to work on a certain type of project)
  • Provide input and support the leadership team in, the forecasting of hiring needs
  • Using system reports, provides a weekly analysis of utilization and resource forecasting accuracy
  • Facilitate communications to ensure that resources are staffed to projects quickly
  • Maintain and provide information about current projects and potential future projects
  • Maintain and provide availability information for all resources
  • Build and manage internal relationships across the wider DRG group to leverage skills and capabilities across the business where required
  • Build and manage relationships with contingency (freelance) staff and agencies
  • Manage a small team of project coordinators supporting project delivery and the resourcing function
  • Participate in initiating and improving operational effectiveness and efficiency in project delivery and HEOR consulting including the compliance with and development of key SOPs
  • Lead the forthcoming transition to formal resourcing software for the business, playing an active role in engaging and educating staff in process and benefits of adoption

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience of working in an office-based, project-based services company
  • Experience in pharma services and/or consulting is a plus
  • Ability to learn quickly (services performed by company, strengths and weaknesses of the consultants, how to use resourcing system – Workday, etc.)
  • Proven track record of creative problem solving
  • Experience of or ability to work in a matrix organization offering strong management and leadership skills
  • Confident and outgoing, with a bias towards communicating in-person or over the phone, rather than via email
  • Customer service mindset, while being able to “push back” on requests that are not feasible or not in the best interest of the business
  • Ability to politely, but firmly, tell people things they don’t want to hear (e.g., certain resource not available)
  • Demonstrated solution orientation and comfort addressing challenges directly and immediately
  • Experience with all aspects of the Microsoft office suite, especially Excel
  • Comfort with working autonomously
  • Proven history of managing sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Interested in learning and professional growth
