The role of the Sales Manager, Life Sciences is to build and lead a team of Account Executives located in our brand new Chandler, AZ office (Phoenix). This leadership position is responsible for the development of the Commercial Account function to ensure they achieve their KPI’s, revenue growth targets and career development goals. This is a great opportunity for an energetic leader to effectively coach his/her team in achieving the desired results for the Clarivate business.

Your team will own and drive new logo and customer wins in the US by selling the flagship Cortellis™ suite of products to the life science industry. Clients use our Cortellis™ product suite to enable precise, actionable answers to specific questions across the R&D lifecycle – from discovery and clinical development through regulatory submission and commercialization. Whether you’re enhancing target selection, stratifying patients and prioritizing indications or need to understand the regulatory landscape, navigate competitive threats and optimize business development decisions, delivering the insights needed to accelerate innovation with confidence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a player coach role in 2021 as we build out this new sales team, transition into a full-time manager role once we have doubled headcount
  • Achieve/exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets, through managing a sales team
  • Recruiting, managing and creating a team culture of target achievement through strong processes, excellent selling and client facing skills
  • Create a winning culture and be viewed as a team driving the energy of the office
  • Aiding the development of the team through sales and product training, as well as identifying and capitalizing on new revenue initiatives
  • Lead by example becoming an expert in selling the life science solutions
  • Manage a set of KPI’s with the team on a consistent basis throughout the year
  • Be constantly learning and improving upon your understanding of the relevant set of Clarivate Analytics products that are sold to the user base
  • Pioneer new sectors and revenue streams opportunities yet to be explored to sell our solutions to
  • Ensure you have a strong understanding of competitor products and services and how we can successfully position ourselves against them
  • Maintain adequate telephone and virtual meeting (e.g. Teams, WebEx, Zoom) volumes as defined by Sales Management
  • Responsible for creating and updating account profiles, providing quotes and booking deals in Salesforce.com.


  • Bachelors degree in a related/relevant field is required
  • Previous experience in the Life Sciences/Pharmaceutical/Medical Device industries is preferred
  • At least 2 years of managing a sales team (strong preference for a managing an inside sales team)
  • Proven ability to lead a sales team, relying on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish sales goals
  • Expert coacher and performance manager, with the ability to spot pipeline and performance issues 3-6 months out
  • Excellent negotiating, organizational and communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and energetic self-starter
  • Ability to work independently and contribute in a team environment
  • Proficiency in MS Teams, Salesforce.com, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications is preferred
