Novartis announced a partnership with Qualcomm on a smart inhaler – their Breezhaler for COPD -- that will allow patients to monitor their data and share with healthcare providers. They aim to be the “first company in respiratory medicine to offer a completely integrated, connected delivery device to provide a seamless, easy to use and simple experience for patients,” although it wouldn’t be the first smart inhaler – GSK and Propeller Health launched one with adherence features last year, and Boehringer Ingelheim has a smart inhaler in the works with Propeller.
