Decision Resources Inc., a health care research and advisory firm in Waltham, today said it is buying BioTrend Research Group of Exton, Penn., for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase of BioTrend, which provides specialized market research to small and mid-sized drug companies, will help Decision Resources expand its biopharma business unit, the company said. It said the financial terms of the deal were confidential.

BioTrends, which will keep its headquarters in Pennsylvania, is known for its kidney research. It also does works in the areas of dermatology, gastroenterology, immunology, infectious diseases, and rheumatology. Under the Decision Resources umbrella, it plans to expand its offerings.
